Airbox is also part of the the anti carb icing, and EPA noise level programs. For those of you who have driven a car or truck with a 4 barrel carb with and w/o an air cleaner housing you remember the difference in the roar of incoming air. Any cycle airbox helps in the noise reduction and lets the exhaust be a little sportier on new bikes. The snorkle on the air box is a big silencer part of the air box. Silencing is accomplished by restrictions in both the intake and exhaust tract, so one of the modifications a owner can make is modifiying the intake and exhaust systems and we do, only slightly breaking federal laws.
